Canada's ice storm causes widespread power outages affecting 390,000 users
Jin10 reported on March 31 that on March 30 local time, the Ontario Power Company in Canada announced that nearly 390,000 users in central and eastern Ontario were without power due to freezing rain and ice storms sweeping across the province. A spokesperson for the power company stated that the freezing rain and ice storms caused many trees to fall and branches to break, damaging transmission lines and leading to power outages. As of now, over 257,000 households have had their power restored, but users still without power may not have it restored until the evening of April 1. Additionally, multiple areas in Ontario had previously declared a state of emergency, and local governments have set up temporary shelters for affected residents.
