Monero遭遇51% Attack Single Mining Pool Controls Network Raises Security Concerns
On August 12, the founder of Slow Mist, Yu Xian, stated that the 51% attack on Monero seems to have been successful, and a certain Mining Pool can theoretically rewrite the Blockchain, achieve Double Spending, and review any transactions. The cost of this attack is high, and it is still uncertain what the economic benefits for the attacker are. It is recommended that relevant platforms pay attention to potential threats and follow closely.
The CTO of a certain company stated, "Monero seems to be experiencing a successful 51% attack. A certain Mining Pool has been accumulating hash power for months and now controls a large portion of the network's hash power. A significant chain reorganization was detected this morning. With its current hash power, this Mining Pool can rewrite the Blockchain, implement Double Spending, and review any transactions. The cost to sustain this attack is estimated to reach up to 75 million dollars per day."
