Ripple predicts that 19 trillion USD in assets will be tokenized by 2033
Ripple, CB Insights, and the Blockchain Technology Centre of the United Kingdom have just released the report "Banking on Digital Assets" on July 30, analyzing over 345 blockchain investments by global banks from 2020 to 2024, including 33 funding rounds exceeding 100 million USD.
After a period of stagnation due to the crypto winter and the collapse of FTX in 2022, blockchain investment has rebounded strongly in 2024. It is forecasted that investment in stablecoin companies will increase tenfold in 2025. In total, over 100 billion USD has been poured into more than 10,000 blockchain deals worldwide in the past 4 years.
Major banks with systemic influence (G-SIB) have made 106 investments, with Goldman Sachs and Citigroup leading with 18 deals each. HSBC was the first bank to test tokenized quantum secure gold trading in 2024.
According to Ripple, Boston Consulting Group forecasts that the total value of tokenized assets could reach 19 trillion USD by 2033. At the same time, 90% of global financial leaders believe that Blockchain will have a significant impact on the financial industry in the next 3 years.
The report observes that blockchain is no longer a "fringe experiment" but is becoming the foundation of modern financial infrastructure, with a rapid increase in institutional capital and practical applications. Leading banks are transitioning from the exploration phase to practical implementation.
Clarity in regulation – such as the ISO 24165 standard and the EU's MiCA law – is paving the way for a broader wave of adoption, despite concerns about volatility and security. Blockchain is expected to be the sustainable force of future finance.
