OpenSea OS2 exits the testing phase, reaching a new monthly user high since 2023.
Gate News bot message, last month, the number of monthly active users on the NFT trading platform OpenSea reached a new high since mid-2023.
According to data from Dune Analytics, the platform had 467,322 users making one or more transactions in May, which is consistent with the levels from mid-2022 to early 2023. The number of active users in June may be on par with this or even higher, currently standing at 236,091.
Although interest in OpenSea has rebounded, the platform's monthly trading volume is still far below the levels of early 2021 and 2022 (before the NFT market downturn). Last month's trading volume was $81 million, while the peak monthly trading volume in January 2022 exceeded $5 billion.
The surge in active users may be attributed to the official launch of OS2 on May 29 and users' expectations for potential rewards. This Beta version is only open to Gemesis NFT holders (94,757 NFTs created by OpenSea in April 2023) and primarily tests new features.
The Beta testing phase of OpenSea O2 was initially launched on January 27, 2025, and is now fully online.
Platform users can now trade tokens and NFTs on 19 chains, including fungible tokens supported by Solana. OS2 has also launched a new rewards system called Voyages, which provides XP (experience points) for on-chain activities.
