US Department of Justice special prosecutor Jack Smith resigns, had previously been responsible for Trump-related cases

Golden Finance reported that Jack Smith, the special prosecutor in charge of Trump's cases, officially resigned from the Department of Justice on January 10th, local time, as reported on January 11th. Smith was appointed as special prosecutor in November 2022 to investigate two cases involving the US President-elect Trump. Court documents show that the Department of Justice is in continued dispute with Trump's defense team over the release of the investigation report on the obstruction of the transfer of presidential power after Trump's 2020 election. It is reported that Smith has completed his work and resigned from the position of special prosecutor.
