Tether CEO: In the next 15 years, 1 trillion AI agents will use Bitcoin and USDT for transactions.
According to Gate News bot, The Block reports that Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino predicts that there will be machine-to-machine transactions in the future, in which Bitcoin and USDT will play a core role. In a podcast interview, he stated that there will be up to 1 trillion artificial intelligence (AI) agents using blockchain assets for payments in the next 15 years.
Ardoino believes that in the future every AI agent will have its own self-custody wallet, because "traditional banks like JPMorgan will not open accounts for robots."
He believes that the stablecoin USDT is the most reasonable choice, as it already accounts for more than half of all cryptocurrency trading volume.
Tether has launched a non-custodial wallet development kit (WDK) in November 2023, preparing the infrastructure and expanding into the field of artificial intelligence through Tether Data and Tether AI, facilitating a peer-to-peer network among AI agents.
At the time Ardoino made this prediction, the U.S. Congress is considering two stablecoin bills that may pass later this summer. The U.S. Treasury Secretary stated that under a clear legal framework, the stablecoin market could exceed $2 trillion by 2028.
