Vintage Bitcoin Wallets Keep Waking up—Millions on the Move From 2012–2017 Wallets
After we covered 101,003 long-idle bitcoin springing to life in 2025, yet another batch of vintage coins stirred over the last two days—this time, wallets dating back to 2012–2017 sent 471.8678 BTC, a stash valued at $56.39 million.
Silent Wallets Make Noise
Seasoned holders have been busy moving their dormant bitcoin stashes throughout July, making it one of the biggest months ever for these sleepy coins to re-enter the wild. Following our recent report spotlighting 101,003 long-dormant bitcoin from 2011 to 2017 springing to life, another 471.8678 BTC quietly moved over the past 48 hours.
Leading the charge was a bitcoin address born on April 8, 2013, which transferred 14.55 BTC—worth $1.7 million—for the first time in 12 years and 3 months. Interestingly, btcparser.com stats show an address created just two days later on Apr. 10, 2013, moved 181 BTC—roughly $21.6 million—at block height 907225.
At block heights 907331 and 907347, two wallets from the summer of 2017 quietly moved 10 BTC and 30 BTC, respectively—marking their first activity in years. Then, at block 907455, another 2013-era wallet emerged as an address created on Mar. 24 of that year transferred 44.30 BTC worth $5.2 million.
